You got the title, the extra meetings and the responsibility. The raise never arrived. If your Zi Wei Dou Shu chart has Ba Zuo in the Wealth Palace, does that contradict the idea of earning through status?
Only if status and income are treated as the same thing. Ba Zuo is a minor star, traditionally discussed alongside San Tai in connection with standing and recognition. It cannot tell you what a position will pay.
What changed when you were promoted?
Consider two hypothetical team leads. One receives a management allowance. The other keeps the same salary while taking on more coordination work. Both have a new position, but only one has additional income. Recognition, authority and compensation need separate questions.
When reviewing a past promotion, check what actually changed and when. Being trusted with a difficult assignment is not money in your account. Nor does a respected professional need a formal job title to earn a living.
A minor star does not replace the rest of the chart
The Wealth Palace concerns earning and handling money within this traditional system. Its main stars provide the starting point. With Wu Qu and Ba Zuo present, for example, a reading should still discuss Wu Qu's financial themes rather than reducing the palace to social status.
San Tai and Ba Zuo are often read as a pair, but a pair is not a promise of doubled income. Other star combinations and the surrounding palaces still matter. These are interpretive traditions, not a proven salary model.
Bring a specific career change to the reading: the year, the new duties and whether compensation followed. Also distinguish the natal Wealth Palace from the palace used for a ten-year or annual cycle. A natal placement alone cannot date your next raise.
